Herbert Bedford ran this shop post 1920 to early 1950s. It sold mainly dry goods, such as dried soups, and pet feed. His son Douglas (b 1928) can remember trying all the different dried pet food - but was cured of this habit after trying the parrot food which contained dried chillies. Herbert Bedford had originally trained as a draper's assistant, until the 1st World War intervened when he served from 1914 to 1919. |
